Manufacturers….leverage the power of LinkedIn

Are you an SME manufacturer and just getting started with social media? To me the best place to start is with LinkedIn. In a 2015 survey, published by Social Media Examiner, 41% people chose LinkedIn as their preferred option for business to business marketing.

It’s a great tool on so many different fronts. If used well then LinkedIn can:

  • Increase awareness of your business and brand/(s)
  • Promote your business as a thought leader and expert in your areas of manufacturing and engineering
  • Help you to attract new talent to your manufacturing and engineering business and give you an edge over your competitors – when skills shortages are so common in the manufacturing and engineering industry
  • Enable you to gain valuable insights into the business and structure of your customers, prospects and competitors
  • Support partnership development and growth for future collaboration and innovation

So what can you be doing to get going? 

  • Set up a personal profile and a company page – do yourself justice.
  • Start creating some meaningful connections – with your clients, suppliers, prospects.
  • Share interesting content to support raising brand awareness – that might be news of business successes, product information, case studies and testimonials or latest vacancies for instance.
  • Once you’re confident in the basics, getting involved in relevant groups and comment on other people’s posts can also help raise profile.
